About the role

We’re looking for a qualified optometrist to join our team and help us care for our growing patient community in Orkney. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll deliver exceptional care across a diverse caseload, supported by a close-knit team and modern clinical technology, including OCT imaging. 

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Conducting detailed eye examinations to detect vision defects, eye abnormalities, injuries, or disease
  • Using OCT imaging and other diagnostic tools to support accurate assessment
  • Taking comprehensive medical histories and listening carefully to patients’ concerns
  • Offering clear, practical advice on eye health and vision care
  • Monitoring and managing ongoing eye conditions and delivering outstanding aftercare
  • Recognising signs of general health issues such as diabetes or liver disease through eye health assessments
  • Contributing to the retail side of the practice, including advising on and selling vision care products
  • Collaborating with fellow optometrists and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care 

We’re looking for an experienced and detail-oriented optometrist who combines clinical excellence with a warm, compassionate approach to patient care. You’ll be someone who thrives in a community-focused environment, building lasting relationships with patients and working collaboratively within our friendly, supportive team. Proactive and solution-focused, you’ll feel confident using your initiative to solve problems and continuously improve patient outcomes.
