Patrick & Menzies have been looking after people’s eyes for more than 30 years. As a proudly independent opticians, we have four branches in Braintree, Brightlingsea, Manningtree and Mersea. We have always done things a little bit differently from the competition to ensure our patients receive the top-quality care they deserve. We always make time to listen to what our patients tell us, and understand their eyecare needs.

We are looking for an optometrist to join our fabulous bunch at Patrick & Menzies. Happy to consider both full time and part time with salary negotiable for the right candidate. As part of the Patrick & Menzies team we ideally need an optometrist who would be willing to travel and work at our different branches that are based in Mid and North East Essex - Braintree, Brightlingsea, West Mersea and Manningtree.

We like to work in a relaxed environment and believe it is important for you to have the time you need to carry out each examination to the highest standard, so most examinations are given 50 minutes. All our branches use OCT, and at Braintree we also have Optomap. These are included as standard in our private eye examination, and offered as an extra to our NHS appointments. We also use Icare tonometers or Reichert Tono-Vera instead of NCTs. 

All our professional team benefit from five weeks holiday, plus bank holidays and no Sunday working. You will automatically be enrolled into our pension scheme, and we provide four weeks sick pay. AOP and GOC fees are also covered. Patrick & Menzies are also part of local enhanced services – Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS) and Post-Operative Cataract Service (POCS).
