The UK Government's consultation on mandatory eyesight testing for drivers over the age of 70 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve road safety, strengthen public health and demonstrate the value of optometry-led care. The current system of self-declaration is failing drivers and road users. The College, in partnership with the AOP, has submitted a joint response to support these reforms
