Finding a moment to speak to Professor Leon Davies FCOptom, the newly elected President of the College, is not a straightforward affair. Whether he is editing professional journals, carrying out award-winning research, engaging in clinical practice, teaching the next generation of optometrists, or taking part in community engagement activities (he spoke to us between volunteering sessions setting up eye clinics for the Commonwealth Games) Leon’s 22-year career as an optometrist has been dynamic, to say the least. 

The reason for this obsession with his profession, he says, is the very personal inspiration behind it.
