In my experience, team building is a daily discipline. In practices where clinical and support staff work side by side but rarely together, real cohesion comes from shared purpose. I’d start by defining shared goals, such as patient experience. Introduce structured huddles so information flows both ways. Recognise contributions publicly, the softer skills, not just clinical outcomes: the receptionist who calmed an anxious patient, the smooth handover after an optometrist flagged a concern. These small everyday moments deserve the spotlight, not just the annual away-day. Team building isn’t something you schedule once a year; it’s how you manage the average Tuesday.
