Why did you choose optometry as a career?
I was working as an optical adviser at David Clulow, which gave me knowledge of the field. I knew I would enjoy it.
How difficult was it to focus on your studies when there must have been distractions at home?
My dad spent a year on remand before I started my course. The court case took place in my first semester, and I had to miss a few lectures. I enjoyed studying more afterwards – it was a welcome distraction.
