Abstract

Background: Dentistry is visually demanding and a defect in acuity or colour vision could adversely affect clinical outcomes. This study investigated dental students’ self-reported eyesight status, factors influencing them to attend eyesight examinations, methods of correction, perceptions of recall periodicity and compliance with optometrists’ recall recommendations.
Methods: A survey was conducted of all undergraduate dental students involved in patient care at New Zealand’s only dental school.
