DISCUSSION WORKSHOP: Confidence in myopia management - an evidence based approach 2 - CooperVision

Discussion workshop

 CPD ref: C-100951

Description: Myopia Management is rapidly expanding and can be one of the most exciting and rewarding aspects of modern optometric practice. Eye care professionals are best placed in educating and advising parents & children on myopia and myopia management strategies. But, how do we use evidence to help choose the most suitable myopia management intervention, and how do we communicate this to patients and their parents?

The session will demonstrate the conversation which educates and advised patient and parent on myopia, risk factors relating to myopia and the balance of risk/benefit of different options of myopia management, including no action, what might be expected enabling informed consent to be obtained. It will review the latest resolutions on standard of care review and understand best practice in patient education and advice on myopia and its options for management, help understand the benefit of best research into different options for myopia management and uses this to select the best option for the patient and recognise the elements of evidenced based research which might help in the recommendation of different options for myopia management.
