IPL/light therapy for dry eye
About the session

Description
The workshop will provide an overview on how IPL and Low level light therapy works including the applications of red and blue light therapy. Treatment demonstrations will also be carried on the use of the IPL/LLLT devices. Participants will also use perform the IPL/LLLT treatments under facilitator guidance and supervision.
This session fulfils the requirement specified for Part B of the BCLA Dry Eye Management Course.

Sarah Farrant FBCLA
Sarah has a great passion for her work. This is reflected in the wide variety of different interests she has within the profession. She has undertaken a number of additional qualifications and is a leading national expert in therapeutics and dry eye management, representing the UK as an Ambassador for TFOS. She is currently president elect for the BCLA and was on the council and exec board of The College of Optometrists for 12 years. She is chair of the Somerset LOC. She is also a keen international lecturer and acts as a consultant for a number of global companies.

Connan Tam BSc MBCLA MCOptom DipTp(IP)
Connan is dually qualified in Orthoptics and Optometry and is an Independent prescriber. He has a background in hospital eye care, having previously worked in several London hospitals He specialises in paediatric eye care, binocular vision and complex contact lenses. He is a director at Burnett Hodd & Tam Optometry and the Dry Eye Centre. Being a dry eye sufferer himself, Connan is passionate about the delivering treatments for dry eye and on a personal level understands the impact it can have on our day to day life.
Facilitators
Indie Grewal FBCLA
Indie Grewal is an optometrist with over 30 years' experience within the optical industry. Shortly after qualifying, he joined Visioncare Research as a research optometrist. He opened his own Leightons franchise in St Albans in 2001, as well as participating in contact lens clinical trials. As well as running his own independent practice, Indie is a professional services consultant in myopia management for CooperVision. Indie’s passion for contact lenses has seen him work with major contact lens manufacturers and as a key opinion leader he has presented both in the UK and internationally. Indie is a fellow and past president of the BCLA.
Shail Patel FBCLA
Shail is an Optometrist with over twenty years of extensive experience across the optical and ophthalmology industry. He has a passion for driving change and innovation within the profession through initiating, shaping and leading concepts via expertise across diverse disciplines. Shail has fulfilled a variety of national and global positions spanning across clinical practice, refractive surgery, professional services, education, commercial and professional marketing functions. His recent roles have significantly contributed to success by challenging the status-quo, embracing digital transformations, and influencing insight driven strategies which have resulted in enhancing clinical education and commercial success. Shail takes pleasure and is motivated by working with peers at all levels within the healthcare sector by supporting the positive contribution to people’s lives daily.
