Description

A short presentation on Van Herick and Goldman applanation tonometry techniques followed by a hands on skills workshop to refine Van Herick and contact tonometry skills for the practitioner.

s.7 Conduct appropriate assessments, examinations, treatments and referrals

  • Able to set up and carry out Goldmann Applanation tonometry
  • Able to carry out a Van Herrick assessment of the anterior chamber angle.

  • Able to explain Van Herrick and Goldmann tonometry to patients and provide appropriate after-procedure advice.

Judy's current role as Head of Optometry development sees her creating and supporting pre-registration optometrist development, alongside supporting professional development for optometrists moving into their qualified careers. 

She qualified as an optometrist in 1987 and started employed life in Specsavers as an Optometry Director in Longton, prior to moving to her full-time role in the professional development team. 

She has also held a role in the corneal clinic at Royal Stoke University hospital and is a College and WOPEC assessor, College examiner and holds a CAVA qualification to assess for the diabetic screening and grading qualification.
