Our Public and Patient Reference Group (PPRG) is currently made up of 23 members from a wide range of backgrounds throughout the UK. All members will have recent experience of high street eye care services or community and hospital optometric care - either as a patient or carer.
The group plays a key role in supporting the College in its work to prevent and manage eye disease in the UK. Members’ insights also contribute to our work to enhance eye care practices and standards.
The PPRG take part in and feedback on a variety of College activities, by sharing their experiences of eye care services. Key tasks might include:
- Reviewing and providing feedback on ‘Plain Language Summaries’ in our Clinical Management Guidelines to make sure they are easy to understand
- Attending and contributing to occasional virtual meetings on a range of topics related to eye care
- Evaluating and commenting on a range of resources, consultations and campaigns relevant to patients
How to join the PPRG
When we have vacancies in the PPRG, adverts will be placed on the College website, external websites and social media channels. Membership of the PPRG is initially for two years, with the option to continue for an additional two years after this time.
