Pre-registration placement, Wessex Optical T/A Boots Opticians, Lymington/Romsey

About the practice

We are recruiting a Pre-reg Optometrists for a summer 2024 start in our Hampshire branches (split between Romsey and Lymington).

Romsey - New store opened in January 2022, kitted out to a high standard (see our Facebook page) with up to date equipment: Phoropter, OCT, Autorefractor/NCT/keratometer/pachymeter, humphrey fields, IOLmaster, semi-automatic focimetry. Romsey also has in-store ophthalmology clinics. Romsey is a busy market town, close to Southampton with direct transport links to London.

Lymington - New store opened in October 2022, kitted out to an equally high standard: Phoropter, OCT, Autorefractor/NCT/keratometer/pachymeter, henson fields, IOLmaster, fully-automatic focimetry, dry eye assessment machine, biometry, corneal topography. Lymington also has in-store ophthalmology clinics, and offers in-house dry eye treatments. Lymington is a beautiful town in the middle of the New Forest and also coastal, with a harbour. It is close by car to Bournemouth and Southampton with a train station too.

About the role

This is a full time pre-reg Optom role, starting initially with dispensing, then rapidly moving to 3, then 4, then 5 days a week testing. We are after an energetic individual who ideally would enjoy working in more than one practice, eager to learn more advanced clinical offering than standard eye tests and contact lenses. Support is offered by supervisors, as well as a pre-reg lead who is also a College assessor, Boots training courses, J&J STEP courses and in-house training alongside other pre-regs in the company. Wessex Optical has supported many pre-regs in the past 5 years with high levels of success.
