New Chief Executive Officer appointed by Optometry Wales

Judy Misra will be joining Optometry Wales as Chief Executive Officer on 1 April 2024.

Optometry Wales is the professional umbrella organisation for the primary care eye health professions in Wales, and represents all community optometrists, dispensing opticians and optometric practices.

Currently working as Director of Contractor services for Community Pharmacy Wales (CPW), when asked what attracted her to apply for the post, Judy explained:

“For six months, during 2023, I stepped up to the role of Acting Chief Executive at CPW. This was a role I very much enjoyed, having worked as deputy to the Chief Executive for seven years previously.”

Judy started at CPW in 2010 and was also involved in contract negotiation and the development of the new community pharmacy contract that launched in 2022.

I am very much looking forward to starting with Optometry Wales and supporting optometry practices as they move into a new and exciting future.
Judy Misra

She has worked hard to build contractor and stakeholder relationships and engagement, including working alongside Optometry Wales to create some community pharmacy/ optometry briefings, and training on the Common Ailments service in community pharmacy and the then Welsh Eye Care Services.

Chairman, Craig Mackenzie, said:

“Judy will bring to Optometry Wales, a wealth of experience and will help steer our profession through the huge changes and challenges our new contract will bring with it.”
