Nominations open for The College of Optometrists’ Research Excellence Awards

The College of Optometrists is inviting members and non-members to nominate outstanding researchers for the annual Research Excellence Awards in recognition of those making a significant contribution to optometric research and the future of the profession.

Nominations open on 8 July and close on 8 August 2026. Nominated researchers must be College members. The awards will be presented at the College’s annual Diploma Ceremony.

The College’s Research Excellence Awards celebrate the achievements of individuals whose research strengthens the evidence base that underpins good practice in optometry. Through their work, these inspirational researchers are helping to advance knowledge, improve patient care and shape the future of the profession.

“The work recognised through these awards demonstrates the dedication, curiosity and expertise of researchers who are helping to improve understanding and outcomes across our profession. We encourage members, colleagues and the wider eye care research community to put forward individuals whose work deserves recognition. By nominating a colleague or peer you could make a real difference to their work and career, while helping us recognise and celebrate the people who are advancing optometry for the benefit of patients, now and in the future.”

Mike Bowen, Director of Knowledge and Research at The College of Optometrists
