Pre-registration placement, Robert Frith Optometrists, Yeovil

About the practice

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a clinically focussed, quality driven practice. You could work within a collaborative team of optometrists with a number of special interests. Amongst the team are four IP qualified optometrists, a glaucoma diploma, specialist contact lens fitter, two trained orthoptists.

This practice is fully supportive of optometrists developing their special interests, including support for higher qualifications and we actively encourage staff to spend part of the week in hospital work. Three of our optometrists also work within hospital ophthalmology departments, doing glaucoma, casualty, paediatric refraction and orthoptics clinics.

The practice itself is spacious, all air-con, extensively equipped including Optomap retinal imaging, latest Humphrey VFA and Heidelberg OCT. The main practice is in Yeovil and is one of the biggest independents in the South West, we have a second practice in Chard which is smaller but refurbished in 2019. Both practices have well trained, welcoming support staff including five dispensing opticians. There will be the opportunity to work in the Chard practice as well if this suits the candidate.

About the role

You'll be trained by two supervisors who have collectively trained more than 20 students, most recently we have been part of an small exclusive group of specialist centres training the fourth year of the Manchester MSci program.
