Tell us about your career journey so far – why did you go into optometry?

I’d always wanted a clinical career, and optometry beckoned. After graduating in 1998, I worked as an optometrist at Boots, Vision Express and Asda Opticians. Later, I worked in professional services for Evolutio, a community ophthalmology provider, where I was involved in triage, clinical protocol development and clinical training.

I now work in the Specsavers clinical performance consultant team, supporting community practices and clinicians to provide access to good eye care. I’m also helping them develop the skills and experience that they need to work with future patients.
