This online dedicated therapeutics peer review session is only open to College members who are fully qualified independent prescribers. The session will cover your GOC IP peer review requirement and is worth three interactive CPD points.
At this online session, you will join a large group for an introduction and then participate in a small, virtual group to review three cases.
The introduction session will be conducted by a lead facilitator and each small group will be led by an experienced facilitator. The cases are:
Patient with a red eye
Patient with upper eyelid swelling
Red eye in contact lens wearer
This event is only open to College members who are fully qualified independent prescribers.
These are brand new cases for 2026 but the content of this session is a repeat of those on 26 February and 28 April.
Learning outcomes
Communication s.1 Listen to patients and ensure they are at the heart of decisions made about their care
Know how to effectively triage a patient that requests diagnosis and management over the phone.
s.2 Communicate effectively with patients
Able to effectively communicate to the patient the most appropriate management plan for their eye condition
Able to explain why first line treatment is not always effective
Clinical practice s.5 Keep your knowledge and skills up to date
Know the differential diagnoses relating to red eye, contact lens related red eye and common eyelid lesions
s.7 Conduct appropriate assessments, examinations, treatments and referrals
Able to investigate and appropriately manage a patient with: - Suspected episcleritis or scleritis - Contact lens related red eye - An eyelid lesion
