Webinar - Bilateral ocular trauma, no light perception….help! The patients’ perspective of severe eye injuries and management

Virtual session

Webinar will be delivered by Mr Kam Balaggan and two very special patients

About the event

This follows on from the educational successes of Mr Balaggan and Professor Gilmartin’s collaborative webinar and lectures, as well as the Patient as a Teacher webinar on vitreomacular disorders. The concept of the “patient as a teacher” is taken further to enhance knowledge of exceptionally severe ocular trauma through the combined lenses of surgeon and patient. As well as trauma, retinal detachments, corneal grafts and congenital glaucoma will also be covered.

Real surgical video footage will be shown with live commentary provided not just from Mr Balaggan but, more importantly, from the patients. There will be a unique focus highlighting the patient pathways and experiences narrated first-hand from the patients themselves. There will be emphasis also placed on the psychological and emotional journey these special patients have undergone during the course of their injuries, surgeries and recoveries.

This novel format will further enhance your knowledge and learning about these conditions. It also highlights the importance of patient communication and involvement in all decisions. The webinar provides a unique personal perspective in relation to these conditions.
