Description: The aim of the session is to increase practitioner confidence in the differential diagnosis of red eye presentations, to understand the key features of red eye presentation that require urgent referral.  It will also hopefully improve knowledge and awareness of therapeutic strategies for managing anterior segment pathologies and thereby increase confidence in managing minor red eye conditions in practice.

Specialty CPD - AS/SP/IP optometrist

Understand the different therapeutic strategies for managing anterior segment pathologies by IP optometrists and when referral to an ophthalmologist is required.

Dr Karen French PhD BSc MCOptom DipTp(IP)

Karen spent 16 years as Head of Optometry for North West Anglia Foundation Trust where she set up and managed the first optometrist led hospital emergency eye service. She has also gained experience across a wide range of ophthalmic specialities. She gained her IP qualification in 2010. Recently Karen has taken on a new role as Optometrist Consultant and Head of department at University Hospitals Sussex based in West Sussex.
