SKILLS: Goldmann & Pachymetry 1

Description: This skills workshop will present a brief summary of the practical set up and procedure for Goldmann Applanation Tonometry (GAT) and pachymetry, including the relevance in glaucoma referral. There will then be hands on practice for the delegates of both techniques.

s.5 Keep your knowledge and skills up to date
- Understands requirement for Goldmann Aplanation Tonometry (GAT) under NICE guideline NG81 with regards to referral for glaucoma/ocular hypertension.
- Understands relevance of pachymetry with regards to management of glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

s.7 Conduct appropriate assessments, examinations, treatments and referrals
- Able to carry out accurate and safe GAT
- Able to carry out accurate and safe pachymetry

Tara is a specialist optometrist working in glaucoma shared care clinics in Royal United Hospital Bath. She is also involved in contact lens, paediatric, anti-VEGF and eye casualty clinics. Tara supervises 3rd year student clinics in University of West of England.
