Preparing for your OSCE: 7 to 23 October 2025

Ahead of your final assessment, the College is here to support you with guidance and tips on preparing for the OSCE. On this page you will find specific information for your OSCE in October 2025.

Candidate briefing

You must watch our candidate briefing video to ensure you're familiar with all procedures surrounding your Final Assessment. 

Arrival times

Please take note of your arrival times. You can find the date and circuit you've been allocated on your My College area.  
 
Please aim to arrive on the time stated and not earlier as you will not be allowed through. College staff will greet you at the ground floor of the building and guide you to the waiting area.   

  • Circuit 1 candidates (AM)   
    Arrival time: 8:30   
    Exam time: 9:15 - 11:00   
  • Circuit 2 candidates (AM)   
    Arrival time: 09:30   
    Waiting time: 09:30 – 11:25   
    Exam time: 11:25 - 13:10   
  • Circuit 3 candidates (PM)   
    Arrival time: 10:15   
    Waiting time: 10:15 - 14:05   
    Exam time: 14:05 - 15:50    
    Circuit 3 candidates will have lunch provided. 

You are welcome to bring your revision notes, but please note that electronic devices and watches are prohibited during the waiting time and will be left outside of the waiting area.   

Reasonable adjustments 

If you have had a reasonable adjustment approved with 25% extra time, your examination date will be: 

  • Circuit 1: Friday 10 October, or 
  • Circuit 2: Monday 20 October 

If you believe that you have booked onto the wrong examination circuit, please contact exams@college-optometrists.org as soon as possible.    
  
If you need to use a panoptic indirect ophthalmoscope in your OSCE, you need to have had this adjustment approved prior to entry to the examinations centre. You can apply for this via the website here. You will not be allowed to use a panoptic if this isn’t approved prior to your OSCE. All candidates having brought panoptic into the OSCE will have to have the Reasonable Adjustments approved. We do not have any spare panoptic ophthalmoscopes available.   
   
Arrival and examination time for trainees with reasonable adjustments is as follows:   
    
Circuit 1 candidates (reasonable adjustments ONLY): Friday 10 October 
Arrival time: 08:30 
Exam time: 09:15 – 11:25 
 
Circuit 2 candidates (reasonable adjustments only): Monday 20 October 
Arrival time: 09:30 
Waiting time: 09:30 – 11:25 
Exam time: 11:25 – 13:35 

Checklist

Complete our 6-point checklist to make sure you are ready for the OSCE:    

  1. Review the information provided on our website to help you prepare for the OSCE
  2. Take a look at these short videos for advice on how to prepare
  3. Complete our free safeguarding training - normally an essential requirement for joining the UK’s performers’ lists. Don't forget to print off your certificate before you take the OSCE as you won't be able to access it once you have qualified
  4. Apply to the Performers List/Health Board of the country where you will be working. Use the PSCE resources available to support your application
  5. Check that you are able to log into your My College area (if you can't, please register now) so that you can access your results on 7 November
  6. Please make sure your correspondence details are up-to-date in your My College area, as your results and certificate will be posted to you

Your results will be available on the College website at 10am on 7 November 2025.
