College representative - Clinical Council for Eye Health Commissioning (CCEHC)
We are seeking a College representative to the Clinical Council for Eye Health Commissioning (CCEHC) to join our current two representatives on Council. This voluntary position is open to any College member practising in England who has strong knowledge and experience of eye health commissioning in England.
About the Clinical Council for Eye Health Commissioning
The Clinical Council for Eye Health Commissioning (CCEHC) is an independent advisory body, representing the leading clinical professions and charity organisations in the eye-care sector in England. It works with NHS England to improve eye health outcomes and access and promote high quality accessible eye health services that address local health inequalities.
It provides evidence-based national clinical leadership, advice and guidance to policy makers in health, social care and public health, and those commissioning and providing eye health services in England. Its recommendations represent the best evidence available, are independent of any professional or commercial interests, and are provided in the best interest of patients.
The CCEHC Terms of Reference
The role
As a College representative you will be expected to:
- Attend two face-to-face, all-day meetings in London – typically in April and October.
- Attend additional online meetings as required throughout the year.
- Proactively contribute to discussions with senior leaders in the eye care sector.
- Champion the role of optometry within the eye care sector.
- Review and contribute to consultation responses and position statements.
- Potentially be involved with small working groups, which may produce reports.
- Commit to a two-year term - which is renewable - subject to College approval.
Who we are looking for
You will:
- Be a member of the College, and working in England.
- Have knowledge and experience of eye care commissioning, and/or the planning of eye care services in England.
- Be able to commit to meetings.
- Be confident to contribute to high-level discussions with senior eye care leaders.
Additional information
This is a voluntary position.
Reasonable travel expenses will be covered by the College, as per our reimbursement policy.
The College of Optometrists and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists provide joint secretariat to the CCEHC.
