This article reviews the use of topical beta-blockers for the treatment of glaucoma.

Although beta-blockers are no longer first choice for the treatment for glaucoma, they maintain a place in the treatment pathway. This article reviews the history and contemporary use of topical beta-blockers, and considers the range of alternative medical, laser and minimally invasive surgical options for glaucoma.
