This article considers the role of optometrists in the hospital eye casualty.

The eye casualty setting is a busy environment. Using reports from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, this article present a series of trauma cases to illustrate the typical caseload of optometrists in eye casualty, and how these patient episodes can help to inform and support the clinical work of community optometrists.
