Many optometrists find examining children difficult, so we provide a helping hand.

Working with children can be both challenging and rewarding. Many optometrists – not just those who are newly qualified – find examining children difficult. This month we look back at previously published Acuity articles focused on the optometrist’s relationship with young patients, and give hints and tips on how to get it right. We also look at the effects of screen time on children’s eye health, and eye care for children in special schools.

Taking place on Thursday 10 October, this year's World Sight Day campaign focuses on children's eye health.

The College is urging parents to begin taking their children to see an optometrist before school age, especially if they or their parents require glasses with a strong prescription or there is any family history of eye problems.

As the nights draw in and we enter a harsh winter, we may experience some issues with our eyes and even our vision, as we find that our eyes need some particular seasonal care.
