How to make your practice family-friendly
Create a welcoming environment to ensure excellent customer service for young and old, says Emma White.
Many parents are still unaware of the need to get children’s eyes examined at a young age. This knowledge gap presents an opportunity for practitioners to reach out to their local community and get children started on the right path for good eye health throughout their lives.
Preparing a warm welcome
Professor Bruce Evans FCOptom, Principal Optometrist at Cole Martin Tregaskis Optometrists in Brentwood, Essex, and Director of Research at the Institute of Optometry is a leading authority on children’s vision.
Setting the scene is important, he says: for example, keeping toys in a visible spot sends a message to children that they are welcome in the space, as well as distracting them from any fears they may have.
