Nominations now open for the President’s Research Medal

The President’s Research Medal recognises and celebrates outstanding contributions to research and recognises a lifetime's career in optometric, eye health or vision science research.

The President’s Research Medal is the College’s most prestigious research award. The winners of this award are inspirational individuals who have made a significant contribution to the evidence-base that underpins good practice, both now and in the future.

This is your chance to recognise research colleagues’ exceptional talent. The award is open to nominations for members and non-members.

Previous recipients of the President’s Research Medal include:

  • Professor Bernard Gilmartin FCOptom for his career-long contribution to the understanding of the aetiology, progression, and myopia and his pioneering work to establish optometry as an evidence-based profession
  • Professor Sir Colin Blakemore, Professor of Neuroscience and Philosophy at the School of Advanced Study at the University of London and Emeritus Professor of Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, for his pioneering work in stereoscopic vision, and neuronal plasticity

Nominations are open until Friday 31 October 2025.
