How do I extend my time on the Scheme?
Situations in which you can extend your time
Your allotted time can be extended in the following circumstances:
a) where you are a Disabled Person and – as a result of your disability – you are, or will become, unable to pass the Scheme for Registration in the Allotted Time
and/or
b) where, due to Exceptional Circumstances you are, or will become, unable to pass the Scheme for Registration in the Allotted Time.
Applying for an additional extension
If you are awarded an extension and then experience additional exceptional circumstances, then additional time can be added on to this extension at the discretion of the Appeals Panel. You cannot apply for an additional extension to your allotted time if the exceptional circumstances occurred outside of this extended time.
Fees
You will be required to pay a fee of £115 (£119 from 1 July 2025) for your appeal application. We will raise an invoice and inform you of it only when we are sure that your application is completed and you have provided enough evidence. Please note that the application fee is non-refundable.
How to apply
- To apply for an extension, fill out the form in your My College area, stating the length of extension you require, your reasons for the exceptional circumstances, along with evidence to fully support your appeal.
- You will need to upload any supporting evidence in Word or PDF format (other formats will not be accepted).
- Please do not use this form for family-friendly leave.
